We are absolutely delighted to report that out Cancer, Older People and Advocacy pilot project has been given the go ahead by BIG Lottery to submit a full application for Silver Dreams Flagship Funding.
Our application will be submitted by November 15th and will include details of how we plan to upscale the work we’ve already been been doing with our existing partners: Dorset Advocacy, Help and Care, AgeUK Gateshead, Beth Johnson Foundation and Sefton Pensioners’ Advocacy Centre.
If successful in obtaining the additional funding we will bring a number of new partner organisations on board across the country ensuring that far greater numbers of older people affected by cancer benefit from the advocacy services we provide and many more older people who have themselves been affected by cancer can be trained as volunteer advocates to support their peers.
We very much look forward to the challenges ahead. It will be the end of February next year before we find out if we have been successful so watch this space for more news as it becomes available.
